Game Film Evaluated:
Auburn (2014)
West Virginia (2014)
Oklahoma (2013)

Pros: Runs in singleback and I formation often. Stoned a blitzer up the middle using perfect technique. Gets good depth in protection, keeps head on swivel but needs to happen a bit faster especially when nickel corners blitz. Strong stiff arm. Very impressive burst and explodes through hole… makes the jump cut with ease to dodge safeties…effective one cut and go runner, not much dancing behind the line. Has the speed to get to the outside…keeps moving forward after contact. Comfortable running inside… Might be the best back in recent memory to hit the hole as fast with his size especially inside. He can dial it back and let the blocks develop but he wants to go 100 mph most of the time. He can catch the ball effectively on screens. Keeps the ball tight against his body protecting it.

Cons: Runs high…doesn’t break as many tackles as expect with his ability. Does not have feel for getting open as a receiver, not a good check down option. …Lot of his production is a result of an amazing offensive line. Can get aggressive in protection and get caught reaching. He was blessed being faster than almost everyone on the field in college, it will be tougher at the next level. He will get some yards keeping the feet moving but Yeldon does not break enough tackles, he has a solid stiff arm. He has always been able to out run the defender, how will he respond when that isn’t the case as much in the pros.

Summary: Yeldon is an incredibly fast inside and outside runner capable of making the big play any time he touches it. The problem with Yeldon is he will be as good as his offensive line is, he will ride and die with them at the next level. He is not the type of back you will say, he got 5 yards when he should have been stopped 2 yards behind the line. He is perhaps the most consistent pass protector among the top prospects, a capable receiver but I need a feature back to break tackles as it won’t be as open for him in the NFL as it was at Bama. High Risk/Reward middle 3rd round pick.
