Game Film Evaluated:
Alabama (2014)
TCU (2014)

Pros: Tackles well, takes the legs out effectively. Able to get off blocks. Real good tackler. Made game clinching pick vs Alabama. Went up to get ball, plays the ball extremely well when in position. Breaks up passes. Closes fast. Plays with good recovery speed. Strong hands and extremely fluid hips.

Cons: Rarely ever challenged receivers on the line, lot of off man and off zone in cover 4. When he does get a INT, he keeps it extremely carelessly away from his body.

Senior Bowl Report: Senquez Golson, CB, Ole Miss Golson lacks the ideal size to be a frontline starter as a pro, but DB coaches are quickly falling in love with the possibility of him filling a role as a nickel corner. The 5-10, 176-pounder displayed impressive footwork and short-area quickness in coverage, while also exhibiting outstanding instincts and awareness in coverage. He repeatedly made bang-bang plays on the ball in one-on-one and team drills, showcasing the playmaking skills that made him one of the top cover corners in the SEC. Although his slender frame could make him a liability against big-bodied receivers in the NFL, Golson's explosiveness and natural ball skills make him a hot commodity as a sub-defender. (GBN Draft Report)

Summary: Senquez Golson is an undersized corner but he doesn’t play like it. He tackles very good for a cornerback of any size and is a playmaker in the secondary. He is that type of corner that when in position, he goes for the ball and wants it. It is a difficult projection since he rarely ever played on the line, never was observed in press man nor did he play in the slot. Golson has the look of an ideal slot corner man who can be a playmaker especially in zone but he makes plays in man as well. Teams will drop him due to his height but he was at a physical disadvantage most days in college and he still performed. I will not discount that this kid can be a starter in the NFL and even if only a slot corner, those guys play as often as most other starters. 3rd round pick who can make an impact as a rookie.
