Game Film Evaluated:
Nebraska (2014)
LSU (2014)

Pros: Anchors well…Gets great positioning and uses his footwork to turn his man and set the edge. Comfortable on the move and hits the moving target. Gets surprising push in the run game, gets his whole body moving forward and drives his man back. Slides well in protection. Uses his hands well, consistently gets good arm extension in both run/pass game.

Cons: Not the most quick feet. but a top speed rusher will give him trouble. Gets upfield on run blocks well. Flashed ability to finish his blocks but not consistent. Not a mauler in short yardage situations. Doesn’t have the elite feet to play on left side.

Senior Bowl Report: Havenstein has shown exceptional savvy and awareness neutralizing rushers off the edge. He does a great job of protecting his inside, yet displays the quickness and length to force rushers to take a wide angle around the corner. With Havenstein exhibiting sound technique and poise at right tackle, the former Badger has certainly helped his cause at the Senior Bowl. (GBN Draft Report)

Summary: Rob Havenstein is a solid right tackle prospect who brings a rare defined technique ability in the run game. He knows how to use power, footwork and drive blocking to knock his man off the line consistently. Lacks the elite footwork to neutralize the fastest of rushers but holds his own. He is equally comfortable in the run/pass game and can hit a moving target on the perimeter and upfield. Doesn’t have the mauling strength or base to play inside at the next level. It hurts his stock to be a right tackle only but worry his height and feet make him just that, hurts versatility. I project Havenstein to a 3rd round pick who could be a swing tackle on game day although if he had to play on the left side, he would need help. I like him best to a run first team on the right side with a tight end next to him to offer the occasional chip in protection.
