Game Film Evaluated:
Kentucky (2014)

Pros: Willing to put his head into the chest of a defender to stuff on the blitz. Runs low to the ground, able to absorb contact and break a few tackles. Strong stiff arm. Runs physical and looks to punish defenders. Gives tremendous effort and plays like he takes pride in blitz pick up. Able to get the dirty yards inside.

Cons: Lacks the speed to consistently turn the corner. Lacks the great burst nor home run speed. Was not observed catching the football during film evaluated.

Summary: Matt Jones is a physical brusing runner who will ground and pound as much as you need. He lacks the game breaking ability but if you want to play a physical running offense, he is a guy you want on the team. He is not made for a speed, spread type passing offense. He is capable of pushing the pile forward and breaking a few tackles. Jones can be a excellent 4th quarter closer to an offense to wear down an opposing defensive line similar to the role of Marion Barber III in Dallas. He is also a hard worker in pass protection and gives great effort to help his QB. Early 5th round pick.
