Game
Film Evaluated:
Duke (2014)
Pros: Smooth
athlete, well built for his frame. Moves well in space. Hits and delivers a pop
at the next level and the moving target. Has good feel for positioning and
sealing off the edge. Uses his feet well in run game and anchors well in the
passing game. Played RT. Can destroy his man in space especially when he extends
his arms, takes them to the ground. He can crash the line and get a push in
short yardage situations. He will take his man downfield and finish blocks.
Cons: Needs
to keep his feet moving, have a wide base to recover when beaten. It will be
difficult to beat him with power, he can beaten by a rusher with good technique
and ability to counter. He can beaten at the snap, lacks the elite quick first
step to get into his set.
Summary: TJ
Clemmings is a solid better run blocker playing on the right side at Pitt. He
has a good frame, long arms and plays with strength and good feet. He is really
a weapon in space and dominating getting to the 2nd level. He will
fit right into a zone blocking scheme as a right tackle and even inside at
guard. He is aware of stunts and picks them up with ease. He will have trouble
versus polished rushers who have multiple ways to get to the QB and rushers
with elite quickness. Clemmings projects as a 2nd round prospect
capable of starting as a rookie on the right side or inside at either guard
position in a zone blocking scheme.
