Game
Film Evaluated:
LSU (2014)
Pros: Shows some leg drive and can knock his man off the
line in the run game. Looks to finish his blocks. Has quick feet and can really
move well laterally down the line, excellent potential in zone scheme. Plays
with long arms, keeps defenders off his body. Athletic to get upfield and get
to the 2nd level. Demonstrated ability to pull inside from RT to get
to the 2nd level and hit the moving target with some pop.
Cons: Will get over aggressive and reach. Struggles to
hit the moving target. Lacks power in his hands, defenders can use a rip move
to disengage from him. Not dominate in the run game, not a mauler by any
stretch. Gets over extended and off balance in the run game. Gives up some
penetration to power rushers, needs to add bulk in the lower body to help him
anchor. Poor technique and waist bending in the run game.
Summary: Chaz Green is a solid pass blocking offensive
tackle prospect, he has played both tackle positions during his time at Florida and has the
quick feet necessary to stay there in the NFL. He has work to do in the weight
room to get stronger in his lower body to help him anchor and get more of a
push in the run game. He needs to clear medically as he missed the entire 2013
season with a torn labrum. He projects ideally to a zone blocking scheme as he
is most comfortable on the move when he gets his feet involved even in the run
game. He gets off balance and bend at the waist versus his knees as well which
can be corrected if he takes to coaching. There is considerable upside with
Green but at this point, he can hold his own in pass protection but will
struggle in the run game. He needs a year before he can compete for a starting
job but the upside is there. As a rookie, he can be an excellent swing tackle
and compete for a job in 2016. Solid 3rd round pick.
