Game
Film Evaluated:
Pros: He
loves to light up receivers, likes to punish them especially when airborne.
Solid tackler. Comfortable to turn and run downfield with receivers. Lined up
on the LOS vs receivers, showed ability to turn and run with ease. Has good
downfield speed.
Cons: He
gets bulldozed over by receivers when engaged. Doesn’t attack the ball in the
air, seems to approach the ball cautiously versus trying to make a play on it.
Dropped sure fire INT for TD. Did not jam receivers. Scheme did not allow for
hardly any zone coverage or backpedal.
Summary: Ronald
Darby is a solid man coverage corner, has the downfield speed to hold up well
in man coverage. He is not a playmaker type in coverage, did not press man at
all in college. He is most comfortable in man coverage playing off the LOS. He
is a very willing tackler and likes to punish receivers if given the chance. He
is limited in the coverages he can do, needs to show more zone. I project Darby
as a solid late 2nd round pick.
