Film Evaluated:
Pros: Strong
at the POA, keeps blockers off his body, good quickness and moves well upfield.
Closes well on the ball and finishes strong. Strong run defender, knocks OL
back, keeps proper extension, disengages the block, finds the ball and attacks
the man. Effective pass rush moves to beat lineman with his hands, has strong
hands. Good tackler, rarely misses. No wasted movement, he can shoot gaps
deceptively. He’s played the 5-technique, 3, and 1 technique at Stanford. He
can side step blocks well and find a way into the backfield.
Cons: A man
without a defined position. Not elite burst off the snap. Doesn’t display spin
move. Showed a swim move but not polished to disengage the block.
Summary: Henry
Anderson is a damn good football player, one of those guys that may not pass
the eye test but he will whip your ass on game day. He is strong, solid burst and
no wasted movement. He is versatile, played all over the line at Stanford
inside and outside. His plus run defending and ability to use quickness and
strong hands to defeat blocks makes him an effective pass rusher too. Reminds
me of Tyrone Crawford but not as quick off the snap. Late 2nd round
prospect to a 4-3 scheme as either a power strong side end or either inside
position. In my opinion, it would waste Anderson ’s
pass rush upside to put him at the 1-technique in base but gives his team an
edge regardless where he plays.
