Game
Film Evaluated:
Pros: Gets
good pop with initial punch. . Keeps his feet moving when engaged with
blockers, helps him push the pocket. Has underrated strength when he uses good
technique. He’s an effective player when he uses his arms to keep separation
and just lean in with the shoulder. He was able to knock DJ Humphries back with
his punch and able to get off blocks in the run game with power and rip move.
Cons: Has
some power to him but very poor hand placement and technique on the pass rush.
Does a real poor job keeping blockers away from his body. When he does get
penetration, just lowers a shoulder with head down completely missing the
target.
Summary: Danielle
Hunter has ideal measurables and is very athletic to be a 4-3 defensive end. He
will be drafted higher than film suggest due to the upside a player with those
numbers has. This has been an issue with a lot of LSU prospects recently,
potential is the game that draws the NFL to Baton Rouge annually. For every Michael
Brockers, there is Sam Montgomery. Hunter plays like a 3rd round
pick on film but he projects to a 2nd round pick due to the upside.
He is extremely raw but a player with speed and already shows power to handle
blockers is intriguing. I project Hunter to a 2nd round pick who has
confidence in developing raw pass rushers and is not in desperate need for
starters on the line as a rookie.
