Game
Film Evaluated:
UCLA (2014)
Pros: Good
burst and impressive straight line speed. Flashes a good speed rush. Can crash
the line effectively. Plays in a 2 point stance in their 3-4 defense vs UCLA.
Matched up vs solid prospect TJ Clemmings at Pitt. Has real impressive upfield
burst and closing speed on the QB. Can chase down plays from the backside very
well. Flashes ability to push tackle upfield then cross face inside to the QB.
Got Clemmings off balance often in game observed.
Cons:
Inconsistent being able to drop his shoulder and turn the corner. Lacks power
and strength in his arms, cannot seal the edge or hold the POA. Does not have
the power to knock a lineman back. He cannot get off blocks in either the run
game or passing game if the tackle takes the speed rush away.
Summary: Eli
Harold is a good speed rushing outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme. He is not a
power player in the least and has not shown the ability to hold up at the POA
nor be able to get off blocks in the run game. These concerns prohibit thinking
he can make it initially as a down lineman in anything but a rotational pass
rusher. He looks to me as a late 2nd round prospect to a 3-4 scheme
or a 3rd round pick in a 4-3 scheme. He just needs to get stronger
without losing any quickness to become a far more complete player.
