Game
Film Evaluated:
Duke (2014)
Pros: Got
flagged for taunting vs Duke, he did push ups on field after dropping pick.
Questionable hands. The duke game was easily his best, found his way into the
action and punished people with his hard hits. He can knock the ball out as a
fumble or break up passes with his hits. He attacked the action vs Florida State…he could
work through traffic and made several plays. He is a violent hitter, opponents
instantly stop when he makes contact.
Cons: Cannot
get off a block inside, tad slow moving laterally. Doesn’t do good job working
his way through traffic to find the ball. Hits hard when he gets there. He got
out juked multiple times by Ameer Abdullah and came up with nothing. A complete
non factor vs Nebraska ,
he played like a slow inside backer who couldn’t get off blocks. Stiff in
coverage, could not match up vs anyone athletic in man coverage. Plays with
poor onfield awareness, doesn’t find the ball.
Summary: Perryman
is a violent hard hitting inside backer who is stiff in coverage and needs a
lot of protection in front of him to be effective at the next level. He cannot get off blocks and has real
difficulty consistently navigating through traffic to find the ball. He brings
a physical element to a defense and can really punish people who come into his
area. However I have doubts he will be able to stay on the field in any passing
situation especially any man coverage. He is a 3rd round prospect in
a 4-3 scheme with massive tackles upfront to protect him, otherwise he will be
a liability.
